GENE.
Eugenio Garcia-Ruiz Alarnes
Madrid, 1928
A veteran artist,
yet young in ideas, illusions & projects.
Long years dedicated to drawing,
illustration, design, advertising.
The years spent living in Brazil,
where he began to paint,
are reflected in popular themes,
committed, with a richness of color
and freedom of forms, which will be
characteristics of his painting, always
alert to the search for new
expressive languages.
First expositions in Sao Paulo
and Rio de Janeiro.
Return to Europe. In Portugal he presents
his first one-man showing. France, Italy,
Holland, Belgium, decisive stages
of his formation and readiness,
now in tune to more intimate and everyday
themes. The geometric structure of
the mural of his youth changes now into more
free and open solutions to any theme.
Interiors, women, children, landscapes, and
portraits. Gene paints everything.
This variety is evidence of his always open
position regarding what painting should be.
What will his next painting be like?
It will be different, a step forward,
with all the risks.
Apart from other valuations
what he likes most is when he’s been
told that his painting is much younger
than he is.
